Le groupe est dirigé par la chanteuse et guitariste Lzzy Hale, accompagnée de son frère Arejay Hale à la batterie, ainsi que des membres Joe Hottinger (guitare) et Josh Smith (basse). Halestorm est connu pour son mélange de hard rock, de métal et de rock alternatif. Leur premier album éponyme est sorti en 2009, mais c'est avec leur deuxième album The Strange Case of...(2012) qu'ils ont atteint une plus large reconnaissance, notamment grâce au tube "Love Bites (So Do I)", qui a remporté un Grammy Award. Leur son énergique et leur performance scénique intense leur ont valu une base de fans fidèle à travers le monde.
